Rayence is planning to expand its patnership with GE healthcare

2016.10.01

Rayence, a leading digital X-ray detector manufacturer, celebrated 4th anniversary  of a strategic partnership with GE (General Electronics) Healthcare. In June 2013. GE healthcare agreed to acquire a mammography assets of Rayence while signing a separate supply agreement of CMOS detector.

The deal created a win-win partnership for both companies. In 2013, GE identified Korea as a gateway for emerging markets in Asia and established a regional office. Rayence, meanwhile was looking for a way to secure a sales and CS (Customer Service) channels in the global market for its brand new mammography business.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide. In United States alone, 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer during their life time (American Cancer Society, Key Statistics 2016) Mammography is essential for the early detection of breast cancer, which greatly improves chance of survivals for those who already face cancer.

From Korea, GE is making entries to emerging market beyond East Asia such as Brazil and India. This year, GE successfully cleared all the legal huddles for obtaining approvals and will release medical device products to the market, including Mammography. Consequently, Rayence anticipates enhanced profit margin next year.

Rayence is considering more partnerships with GE healthcare. A Rayence official said on Nov.11th. “We are open to strengthen a strategic partnership with GE in future by supply our detector’s to GE’s other X-ray device.” “Once new deals are made, Rayence’s sales to GE will increase by double.”
