AI and software to help establish new standards in dental care
Expanding beyond diagnosis and treatment into prevention and ongoing care to deliver value customers have yet to experience
Vatech, a specialist in dental diagnostic imaging led by Brian Hwang, CEO of Vatech, has announced its mid- to long-term strategy, “Leap Forward 2029,” marking the 20th anniversary of its KOSDAQ listing. Building on the technological expertise and customer base that have made it the global leader in dental CT, the company plans to connect imaging equipment, artificial intelligence (AI), and software, while expanding its business beyond diagnosis and treatment into prevention and ongoing care.
Vatech held its anniversary ceremony on September 29 at its headquarters in Dongtan under the theme “Leap Forward 2029; NEVER BEFORE.” Attended by Vatech employees, the event offered an opportunity to reflect on the company’s growth, share its longer-term vision, and outline how each organization will contribute to bringing that vision to life.
Pioneering Markets Through Innovation, Becoming the Global Leader in Dental CT
In 2003, Vatech introduced Korea’s first digital panoramic dental X-ray system. In 2005, it developed the world’s first “3-in-1” digital X-ray system, combining panoramic, cephalometric, and CT imaging in a single unit. Following its KOSDAQ listing on September 29, 2006, the company continued to strengthen its position in dental diagnostic imaging by expanding its portfolio to include low-dose, high-resolution CT systems.
These technological advances drove growth in international markets. Today, Vatech leads both Korea’s dental imaging market and the global dental CT market, supplying products to more than 100 countries. Consolidated revenue reached KRW 426.4 billion in 2025, with exports accounting for more than 90% of total revenue. This year, Vatech also became the first Korean company to produce its 100,000th digital dental X-ray unit.
Building on these achievements, Vatech intends to create new growth opportunities across the full spectrum of dental care. Alongside continued advances in image clarity and imaging performance, the company will broaden the use of imaging information in diagnosis, treatment planning, patient consultations, and follow-up care.
Setting New Standards in Dental Care
At the heart of “Leap Forward 2029” is a commitment to expanding the value Vatech delivers to its customers. By combining its expertise in equipment manufacturing with AI and software, the company aims to evolve into a business that sets new standards in dental care. For clinicians, this means having the information they need available at the right point in their workflow. For patients, it means a seamless care experience spanning prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
Research and development will focus on solving challenges encountered in everyday clinical practice. Vatech will advance technologies that reduce imaging limitations caused by patient movement or physical conditions and enable clinicians to make fuller use of the clinical information contained in images. Imaging equipment, AI, and software will be brought together under a unified development strategy to ensure that technological advances translate into practical benefits in the delivery of care.
Vatech’s forthcoming dental software will integrate images, patient information, and analysis results to connect the clinical workflow—from diagnosis and treatment planning to patient consultations and report preparation. The goal is to reduce the burden on clinicians of learning separate functions and retrieving information from multiple sources. The software will proactively organize information and flag items that require review, supporting clinicians in making informed decisions.
Over the longer term, Vatech plans to extend the relationship between dental practices and patients beyond the clinic. Information gathered during diagnosis and treatment will support patient consultations and post-treatment care, while ongoing engagement will help patients maintain their oral health and practice prevention in everyday life. Through this approach, the company aims to deliver new value to both clinicians and patients by connecting prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care.
Putting the Strategy into Action Through a Global Network and Shared Responsibility
Vatech’s 26 overseas subsidiaries and sales and service network spanning more than 100 countries will play a central role in bringing new technologies and software to local markets. Customer needs, regulatory requirements, and clinical practices in each country will inform R&D and business strategy. After a sale, the company will continue to gather insights into how customers use its products and what they need, feeding those insights back into improvements to products and services. The aim is to build lasting customer relationships that go beyond equipment supply to provide ongoing support for clinical care and practice operations.
At the ceremony, the Vatech Research Institute, software affiliate Ewoosoft, and Vatech’s Global Business Division presented their respective plans for products and technology, software, and market expansion. Employees gained a clearer understanding of the company’s strategy and their own roles in delivering it, while reaffirming their commitment to shared goals. Management also outlined its intention to review implementation needs across the business and provide the resources and support required.
“Vatech’s rise to global leadership in dental CT has been driven by innovation—developing the technologies customers need ahead of the market and demonstrating their value around the world,” said Brian Hwang, CEO of Vatech. “Achieving this position in just over two decades has required sustained investment in our people and the courage to take on new challenges.”
He added, “By connecting imaging equipment with AI and software, Vatech will take its next leap forward as a company that sets new standards in dental care. We will expand our offering of products and services that customers trust and choose, while creating more opportunities for talented people to challenge themselves and grow. These efforts will drive sustained business growth and enhance corporate value.”
